Notes for Eli BATTIN
Eli Battin moved from New Garden to Short Creek in 1815 [4:798]
Eli Battin asked for the meeting's oversight in his proposed
marriage to Phebe Battin, which was granted. [4:174]
Eli Battin was granted a minute to New Garden MM stating
that Short Creek MM had appointed a committee to visit
Eli and make sure that he was ready to get married. The
meeting granted his request to be married to her and sent a
minute to New Garden MM where Phebe was a member. [4:174]
Eli Battin married Phebe Pennock [4:798]. Since the Book of
Marriage Certificates is lost for New Garden MM, the date of
the marriage is not in EAQG. However, I have found that in
the minutes of the MM it often tells when the marriage was
scheduled. This information is not usually copied in EAQG
because the Book of Marriage Certificates is available for
most meetings.
Phebe Battin's membership was moved from New Garden
to Short Creek on 5-16-1816. [4:798]
