Notes for James Morris BROOMALL

A member of a steel making family, JAMES migrated to the steel making area of Ohio, then went to Grant's lick, Kentucky, where he shows up in 1870 as a rolling mill hand, with his family. Since his daughter Rebecca was born in Ohio, and a year later his son James was born in Kentucky, the family must have moved about 1865-66. He later settled in Birmingham Alabama. In 1895 the Birmingham Directory lists Broomall & Merrell (J.M. Broomall, Lee Merrell), coal dealers. He resided in the suburb of Elyton. He died Before 1901 as the Birmingham Directory of 1900 lists Rebecca as widow.
