Joseph was an Ensign in Capt. John Mather's Company in one of the associated
regiments of Chester Co 1747-8 raised for armies in French & Indian War. On February 23, 1761
Joseph joined Middletown Friends Meeting, requesting membership for himself and children: Joseph, John, Jacob, Elizabeth, Hannah & Susannah, the other children having married.
