John Owen was high Sherriff for the County of Chester, Oct.4,1729-31; Oct.3,1735-37; Oct.4,1743-45; Oct.8, 1749-51. He was elected a member of the Provincial Assembly of Pennsylvania at periods extending from 1733-1748; was collector of excise for Chester, 1733-37; and for many years one of the trustees of the Loan Office of Pennsylvania.
