Notes for Elizabeth FENIMORE

Per the book called "The Cooper Family History & Genealogy, 1681 - 1931" by Murphy Roe Cooper, Elizabeth was the daughter of the wealthy aristocrat Richard Fenimore from Rancocus, NJ. Elizabeth was beautiful, wealthy, belonged to the aristocracy but was known to be quarrelsome. Which appears to be a Fenimore trait followed down the generations. Elizabeth refused to move to the "Wilderness" with her husband, seven children, two slaves, and five servants. The wagons were packed and she refused to leave the chair in her fathers library. William picked up the chair with her and the baby she was carrying and put her into the wagon with Elizabeth still in the chair. Elizabeth never was received in a Quaker Meeting. Out of 13 children only a son and a daughter survived beyond youth. The surviving son James became a famous American Author (James Fenimore Cooper).
