Evelyn was the daughter of John Wilkin and Sophia Lewis (Stone) Nivin.

In 1940 Evelyn was living in Swarthmore, Pa. with daughters Anna N., 22, and Margaret G., 19. In 1935 they were living in Florida. Anna was born in Delaware, Margaret in Pennsylvania.
