Notes for William BUCKMAN
William Buckman lived near William Penn in Sussex (there is still a Buckmans corners just north of Chillington) they attended Shipley Meeting. William was a carpenter of Bellingshurst, Sussex County, England. He arrived in America, October 1682, on Delware River in the ship "Welcome", mastered by Robert Greenway, with him were his wife Sarah and Children Sarah and Mary. William spent his first winter in a cave near Fallsington, Penn.
William was a carpenter and a millwritght.
Member of Middletown Friends Meeting.
In his will, written 7-4-1716, and probated 10-26-1716, he left his plantation in Newtown, and meadow and woodland by the Neshaminy Creek, one-third of his carpenter's tools, a cow "Prissy" and her calf to his eldest son, William. He signed "Will" although he could wirte.
