Notes for Nina Cammie BOTTS
Nina C. Mace, 96, of Springfield, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Monday, January 9, 2006. She was born to J.F. and Lula Botts on January 29, 1909, in Blue Springs, Missouri. In 1921 the Botts family moved to Springfield to a farm, the house and barn remaining today as 317 East Glenwood. On August 22, 1935, she was united in marriage to William R. Mace. Nina became a dedicated school teacher. She lived and worked in Missouri and in California, retiring in 1973. She was an exemplary teacher, an avid gardener, an excellent cook, a talented artist, an eternal optimist and, above all, a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her parents, her husband, one brother, three sisters and a grandson preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Philip Mace and his wife, Varian, of Visalia, Calif., her daughter, Gretchen Velasco, her daughter, Patricia Vandevoir and her husband, Doug, all of Springfield, her sister, Mary Hamilton, of San Diego, Calif., six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Nina chose to have private family services.
