Obituary
John Dillon Madden, 91, passed away on May 20, 2018, at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond VA, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Born in Eddington, PA, John was one of six children of Joseph and Margaret Madden, nee Dillon. He lived in the West Chester PA area most of his life, with his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Isabel Madden, nee Sicoli.
John was a self-employed masonry contractor until 1975. His craftsmanship touched hundreds of homes and office buildings throughout Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties. From 1976 to 1998, he held positions in the auto body industry. John served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 on a mine sweeper, the USS Pelican (AMS 32). He was awarded the Victory Medal and ribbons from the Pacific and American Theaters.
John is survived by his wife and two daughters, Carol Maher (John) of Midlothian VA, Margaret Marshall (Patrick) of Ocean City NJ, two grandchildren, John Maher, III of Northern New Jersey, Sharon Hundley (Chad) of Midlothian VA, Erica Marshall of Philadelphia, PA, and a great grandson, Paxton Hundley. He is also survived by his sister, Rosanna Lazin of Media PA, and many nieces and nephews.
John is remembered by his loved ones as generous, dependable, hard working and always ready to help others in whatever way he could. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation followed by a service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00 am, at Philadelphia Memorial Park, 124 Phoenixville Pike, Frazer, PA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your charity of choice in John's memory.
