Notes for Marcella Rebecca FOSTER

Mrs. B.F. Hoopes, mother of W.P. Hoopes of this city, and one of the early pioneers of Montana, died at her home in Helena Saturday morning, funeral services being held yesterday.

Mrs. Hoopes was the first white child being born in western Iowa, the date of her birth at Iowa City being 1840. In company with other members of her family, she came to Montana in 1865, locating in Virginia City, later moving to Boulder and then to Helena a few years ago. Mr. Hoopes went to Helena to be with his mother during her last days and was with her when she passed away.
