, 82 - of Cologne, passed away on December 31, 2006 at the Atlantic City Mainland Medical Center.
Bob was raised in the Mays Landing area and attended the Mays Landing High School.
He had 40 years of service s a carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local #623, most of those years with the M.B. Markland Contracting Company and the First National State Bank of South Jersey.
Bob served honorably in the U.S. Army, Atlantic and Pacific Theaters, during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
During Galloway Township's early days of growth, he served as the township's building inspector and zoning officer.
Bob was a past Master of the Hiram T. Dewey Masonic Lodge, a member of the Masonic band and served as the Lodge's organist and secretary.
He was a multi-talented musician. Bob had a lifetime enjoyment of music and played piano, violin, mandolin, banjo and coronet, among others.
His inquisitive mind led to many interests including modern physics, Egyptology, inventions and discoveries of all kinds. Personal hobbies were boating, fishing, gardening, woodworking and cooking. A first rate artisan, Bob spent much time in his workshop doing customized wood projects for his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife, Ethel married for 60 years.
In addition to his parents, Ruth Blackburn Hannum and Alfred Hannum, he was predeceased by his brother, John Hannum and daughter Carol Hannum.
He is further survived by his sister, Ruth Pratt and husband Ted; son, Robert W. Hannum; daughter, Sharon L. Cohen and husband Irv; grandson, Jason Wertzberger, wife Heather and son Noah; nephew, Jay Hannum; nieces, Tracy Pratt and Terry Csere.
The viewing will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services at 11:00 at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor, NJ 08215. (609) 965-0357.
Interment will follow at the Egg Harbor City Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
