Notes for Edith B. BERKEIHEISER
On July 28, 2017, Edith B. Pennington (Edie) danced her way into heaven and into the arms of God. She was born January 17, 1933, to Hughy & Jessie Berkeihiser.
Born in Frazer, PA she lived in Claymont, DE for many years. She spent over 20 working for the Brandywine School District as a secretary.
She is survived by her only child, Amy Schwartz (Richard), two grandchildren Scott Price (Jen) and Wendy Leary (Dennis) along with three great-grandchildren Kayla, Dennis Jr. and Lila.
She was a faithful member of Atonement Methodist Church, which she truly enjoyed and loved. Edie’s love a music was demonstrated by her involvement in the Delaware Symphony Orchestra where she played clarinet. She always enjoyed the travels of the symphony and entertaining others with the sounds of music. After her retirement Edie traveled to many places including the Holy Lands, Germany, Alaska, and many cruises. She also traveled to Naples, Italy to visit Amy, Rick, Scott and Wendy. She always had a kind word and a smile for those she met. Edie’s favorite hobbies was dancing, shopping, flea-markets and auctions.
The last couple of years were spent in Virginia Beach, closer to Amy and Rick, as well as Scott, Jen and Lila. Everyone that came in contact with her loved her and her beautiful smile.
Visitation will be held at Atonement Methodist Church 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont DE 19703, on August 8, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, services to follow immediately with burial at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mom’s name, Edith Pennington, to either the building fund at Atonement Methodist Church 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont DE 19703 or Sentara Hospice House who very lovingly cared from Mom during her last days.
