Notes for David J. MAITLAND
David J. Maitland, 66, of Downingtown, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Barbara M. Rodgers Maitland, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.
Born in Altoona, Pa. he was the son of the late John C. and Christine Harlan Maitland.
David graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1968 and then attended Williamson Trade School from 1968-1970. He worked for the University of Pennsylvania – The New Bolton Center as a carpenter for 36 years before retiring in 2015.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He was also a passionate Steelers fan.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his daughter, Erin M. Howell and her husband Tad; two grandchildren, Brianna and Joseph Howell and by three sisters, Eleanor Kraft, Joann Beck and Carol Kinser.
A liturgy service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. Family and friends will be received from 9:15-10:15 a.m.
Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Coatesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of New Bolton Center, 382 W. Street Road, Kennett Square, Pa 19348.
