Notes for Vida Lorette HOLLAND

Sharpless, Vida Lorette (Holland) , - age 80 of Swedesboro, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice Inpatient Center in Mt. Holly. Born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX to the late Lon and Thelma (Henderson) Holland, she graduated high school, and then from Delmar Junior College, where she met her husband. In 1958 Vida married and soon started her family, before moving to Baltimore, MD 14 years later. She lived in Southern New Jersey for the past 16 years. For many years Vida worked as a Librarian at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. While living in Texas, she was an active member with the Methodist Churches. She was also active with the volunteer committee at her senior community. Vida was a world traveler, visiting all seven continents and over 80 countries. She will be remembered as a champion bocce ball player. Cake decorating, making clothing and preserves, and square dancing were just a few of her favorite hobbies. Vida will be sadly missed by her husband of 58 years, Lawrence; her children, Dana Sharpless of Santa Monica, CA, and Terry Sharpless of The Villages, FL; three grandchildren, Kristie Gleason, Kimberly Forsythe, and Austin Sharpless; and one great grandson Jack Gleason. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jerry and Jimmy Holland. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Atlantic County Veteran's Cemetery, Estell Manor.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Parkinson Life Center of Southern New Jersey, 314 Central Ave., Linwood, NJ 08221.
