Notes for Robert Allen PYLE
Robert Allen Pyle Sr., 66, of Oxford, a former resident of Glenolden, died Sept. 19 at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Pyle was the son of the late Charles Pyle and Florence Garrison pyle. He lived in Glenolden for a number of years before moving to Oxford 13 years ago.
Co-owner of the former Pyle's Auto Service in Sharon Hill for 40 years, he retired from the business in 1985. After retirement, he continued to work for Southern Chester County Medical Center, West Grove, the Asplundh Co. of New Castle, Del. and most recently was with Enfield Equipment Co. of Oxford.
The director of the Oxford Area Senior Center from 1990 to 1992, he was currently a member of the board there. Mr. Pyle also assisted in the American Association of Retired Persons Tax Aide program at the center. He also was treasurer of the Oxford Democratic Committee.
A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Pyle was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite and belonged to Penn Lodge 709, F&AM. He also belonged to Oxford Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Avanell Marie Hepfer Pyle; three sons, Robert A. Pyle Jr. of Prospect Park, Michael Pyle of Mays Landing, N.J. and the Rev. C. Scott Kinder Pyle of Limerick, Pa.; two daughters, Linda Mondzelewski of West Chester and Donna Shannon of Oxford; two brothers, Walter Pyle of Mount Ephraim, N.J. and Richard Pyle of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oxford Presbyterian Church, 6 Pine St., Oxford, where there is a calling hour from 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park, Concord.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the Oxford Area Senior Center Building Fund, 18 Addison st., Oxford, PA 19363. In addition, donations of blood in his name may be made to the Lancaster General Hospital Blood Bank.
Arrangements are by the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home Inc. of Oxford.
