Notes for Doris A. LAMAR
Doris A. Darlington, 90, of Coatesville died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at St. Martha Manor, Downingtown. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Gurskey LaMar and the wife of the late C. Ross Darlington with whom she shared 53 years of marriage before his death in October 2000. She was a 1943 graduate of Coatesville High School. She was the secretary and treasurer for Valley Township for many years. Doris was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, where she was a member of the Congrega. She was also a member of Caln Civic Club, Coatesville Country Club, Coatesville Senior Center. She was a life member of the Westwood Fire Company Auxiliary. She served as the Jury Commissioner of Chester County as well as the Chairperson for both the Democratic and Republican parties. Doris is survived by her two sons: Dr. C. Ross Darlington, Jr. of Downingtown and Robert F. Darlington of Alexandria, VA and one daughter Maryellen Winn of Coatesville; five grandchildren: Jack, Ashley, Bridget, Paige, and Courtney; three great-grandchildren: Joshua, Madison, and Maverick; two sisters Lorraine of Coatesville and Margery of Milford, DE; and one brother Lawrence of La Mirada, CA Doris’ funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 from 5-7pm and Saturday from 9-10am at Wentz Funeral Home 342 East Chestnut Street, Coatesville 610-384-0318. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown. In her memory, contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Church 80 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville, PA 19320.
