Notes for Joseph H. BEALE

Joseph Beale died at his home, No. 359 East Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, early this morning. He was in his 83d year, and had been ill for two weeks. A general breaking down, incident to old age, was the cause of death. Two brothers, Dr. George Beale of Caln, and John Beale of this city, survive, wires the News' Coatesville correspondent.
Mr. Beale's wife was Miss Emma Hatfield, who died about thirteen years ago. Mr. Beale had been prominently connected with the city of Coatesville and county, nearly all his life. In his early manhood he was an attorney, connected with the Chester County Bar. For more than fifty years he was a real estate purchasing agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. For the past 15 years he had been living retired. He was one of the founders of the National Bank of Coatesville, and had since been a director of that institution. He was a Trustee of the Presbyterian Church. Many years ago he was a member of the old Coatesville Borough Council, since which time he had always taken a keen interest in municipal affairs.
Mr. Beale was an old-time Democrat and always adhered to that faith politically. He had been offered many chances for nomination to high offices in that party, but always declined. He was a counselior (sic) for the party, both locally and in the State.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral without further notice from his late residence, 359 East Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, Pa., on Thursday, June 22. Meet at the house at 2 o'clock p.m. standard time. Interment private at Fairview Cemetery.

With Railroad Quarter Century
After serving as their real estate agent for a quarter of a century Joseph Beale, East Main Street, has been placed on the retired list by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. Mr. Beale reached the seventieth milestone last Tuesday and hi is enjoying the best of health. During his administration with the big railroad corporation Mr. Beale has made some important deals and he is considered on of the shrewdest men that ever held such a position with the company.

Joseph Beale, the veteran real estate man of the Pennsylvania Railroad, who has just been retired, is a member of the Chester County Bar, having been admitted August 15th 1865. He studied law with Joseph Hemphill, father of the present Judge Hemphill. Afterward he practiced in Blair County, where one of his first cases was the settlement of the Lytle estate, He had been with the railroad thirty-five years.
