Notes for Robert H. PENNELL

1921-2017 Robert H. Pennell, 96, former Aston Twp. commissioner, died February 14, 2017 at Tel Hai Retirement Community. Born in Swarthmore, son of the late Archibald C. and Florence Poore Pennell, he was a longtime resident of Aston, before moving to Honey Brook in 2012. Robert was a graduate of Media High School and a US Navy Veteran who served on a submarine during World War II. After the war, he worked for his family’s carpentry business and later worked in the County Tax Assessment Office before retiring in 1984. He was a member of Concord Lodge #625 F. & A.M., American Legion Post #87 and the Bonaventure-Clark VFW Post #6613. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time at his beach home on the Chesapeake. He was husband of the late Marie Taylor Pennell who died April 10, 2009 after 66 years of marriage; father of the late Holly H. Farrell; and was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors: his son-in-law, Robert L. Farrell; his grandchildren, Robert Farrell, Jr. (Sharon) and Mary R. Deihm (William); five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 1 PM Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 3551 Concord Rd., Aston where friends may call after 12 noon.
