Notes for Geraldine Ann SIMKO

Geraldine Ann Talley
Age 70, of Wilmington, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Stephen and Dorothy Simko, she was born in Wilkes-Barre PA, raised in Harding, PA, and was the oldest of eight children.

Graduating from Scranton State School of Nursing in 1967, "Gerry" was a dedicated and compassionate registered nurse, enjoying a long fulfilling career of 50 years. She worked in various health care facilities including the National Institute of Health and Sibley Memorial Hospital in D.C., and St. Francis Hospital and Methodist Country House in Wilmington, DE. She had a gift and a passion for the elderly and happily spent the last 30 years of her career at Millcroft Nursing Home in Newark, DE.

Gerry was a devoted wife to her husband of 42 years, an amazing mother to her three children, and a true and loyal friend, always eager to lend a helping hand whenever she could. She loved having fun with friends and family, going to the beach, picking berries, working puzzles, and playing games, especially Scrabble. Most of all, she loved to laugh. Her laughter was contagious and like a medicine to the souls of those around her.

Being a strong Christian woman with unshakable faith, Gerry was truly a shining example of God's love. With a smile that lit up a room and a hug for everyone, she created life and joy with her presence and selfless giving. All who knew her were changed by the beauty of her heart, the kindness of her words, and the generosity of her spirit. She was an angel on Earth and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Daniel and James Simko. Surviving are her husband, Wallace W. Talley Jr.; three children, Wallace III (Jamie), Christopher, and Sarah; brothers, Stephen, George (Diane), Thomas and Joseph Simko; sister, Theresa Bishop; aunts, Barbara Palmer and Marion Blevins; uncle, Victor Kupcek; sister-in-law, Michele Earlley Simko also left to cherish her memory are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
