Notes for Mary Alice MENDENHALL
Mary Alice (Mendenhall) Bender, 91 of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on January 30, 1921 on a farm in West Brandywine Township, Pa. and lived for many years in Wilmington, Delaware before settling in Hamilton where she resided for the past 52 years.
She retired in 1984 from the State of N.J. – Division of Unemployment and Disability. She was a member of the Pearson Memorial United Methodist Church and a proud member of the Hamilton Township Senior Bocce League. Mary was a faithful Phillies fan and also enjoyed trips to the Atlantic City and Parks casinos'. Most of all, Mary enjoyed spending time with her loving family and her long time companion Anthony Chianese.
Mary was the daughter of the late George and Grace (Arters) Mendenhall, wife of the late William Levi Bender, sister of the late George and Robert Mendenhall, Elizabeth Osborne, and Sarah Hess. She is survived by her sons; William Stroud of Newark, DE., Gary Bender and wife Nancy; of Columbus, Richard Bender and wife Suzanne; of Bordentown, and Larry Bender and wife Patricia; of Cape May, her daughters; Janet Saxton and husband Roland; of Wilmington, DE and Deborah Mapps and husband Harry; of Runnemede, her brothers; Harold; Paul and Allen Mendenhall; and her sister; Dorothy Doan. She is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and several dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Pearson Memorial United Methodist Church, 71 Pearson Dr., Hamilton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be from 9:30am until time of services at the church.
