Notes for Francis R. CANNELLA
Francis R. “Franny” Cannella, Sr., 80, of Glenmoore, passed away on Wednesday December 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Betty J. (nee Frankhouser) Cannella with whom he shared 14 years of marriage. Born in West Chester, Franny was the son of the late Russell J. and Amelia (nee Casenta) Cannella. He was a 1954 graduate of Downingtown High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Before his retirement in 2004, he worked as a Service Technician for Coca Cola in Coatesville for 42 years. Franny was a member of St. Peter Church in West Brandywine and attended St. Joseph’s Church in Downingtown. An outdoorsman, Fran enjoyed hunting, fishing and belonging to Camp Irwin, Arnotsportsmans Club and the Morris Rod and Gun Club. He also belonged to St. Anthony’s Lodge, Amphibious Order of the Frog’s, American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He enjoyed wood carving and playing music; many described him as a one man band. In addition to his wife, Mr. Cannella is survived by his children, Francis R. “Rusty” Cannella, Jr. (Maryellen), Gail A. Campbell (Robert), Michele Geiger (John), Penny Brown (Howard) and Michael Wirth Jr. (Tina); siblings, Leonard Cannella (Kathie) and Betty Ann Pike (Jim); grandchildren, Nicole and Robbie Campbell, Francis Cannella, III and Casey Lynn Cannella. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Lynne W. (nee Cotton) Cannella. His memorial mass will be held on Friday, December 30th at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown, where family and friends may visit from 8:45 to 10:15 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380.
