Notes for Andrew Passmore COPE
Andrew Passmore Cope of Crosslands, Kennett Square, PA passed peacefully on November 24, 2016 at age 96. He was raised in West Chester, PA by his Quaker Aunt and Uncle, Ralph and Mary Passmore. Andy received his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Drexel University.
In 1942, he married Martha E. Harry and they enjoyed 31 years of marriage raising three sons until she passed. He worked as mechanical engineer for Sperry Gyroscope in New York and Virginia and DuPont in Wilmington Delaware where he was awarded several patents. Active on school board and local community civic affairs, he also attended the Unitarian Church in Wilmington for many years. In 1974, he married Jeanne Evans of California. They enjoyed 42 years of boating, travel, and gardening together in Wilmington and finally moved to Crosslands.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne, two sons, Rick (Ruth Ann) and Ralph(Sandy); daughter in law Christine Cope, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, his sisters Anne Raddatz of Decatur, IL and Dorothy Moore of Columbus, OH. Andy is predeceased by his oldest son Steven A. and older brother, William T. Cope.
Services will be at 10:00 AM on December 17 in the William Penn Room in Crosslands main building at 1660 East Street Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348. Interment at Birmingham Friends Meeting cemetery following the gathering. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Crosslands Reserve Fund, PO Box 100, Kennett Square, PA 19348
