Notes for Alfred G. BEAMER

SMYRNA - HMC Alfred G. "Fred" Beamer USN (Ret.), of Smyrna, and formerly of Newark, passed away on March 30, 2009, at Milford Memorial hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 77.

Mr. Beamer was born in Philadelphia, on Nov. 26, 1931, the son of the late Thomas W. Beamer Sr. and Alice Georgianna Tunnell.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for over twenty years as an X-Ray Technician, Corps-man, and Medical Repair Technician. He spent a year in Vietnam with the 1st Medical Battalion, U.S. Marines. After retiring from the Navy in 1971, he worked as a Dental Repair Technician for over 15 years with Healthco and later Patterson Dental. He later moving to Selbyville, where he loved singing barbershop. Fred sang lead in the Coast Notes Octet and in the Nautical Sounds Chorus. He retired to Lehigh Acres, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor "Susie" Beamer; and a brother, Thomas W. Beamer Jr.

He is survived by a sons, Alfred G. Beamer Jr. and wife Marcia, John C. Beamer and his wife Holly, Kenneth R. Beamer and his wife Sandy, Donald N. Beamer and his wife Jean, and Kevin T. Beamer; stepson, David McLaughlin and wife Pam; daughters, Vaughn R. Beamer and Judith C. Beamer; stepdaughter, Debra McLaughlin; brother, John F. Beamer; three sisters, Ramona Derrickson, Jo Miller and Jackie Disharoon; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m., Friday, April 17, at Calvary Assembly of God, 1141 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Interment will be private.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.
