Notes for Richard Gilpin III BUCKINGHAM

Richard "Buck" G Buckingham III age 78, of Wilmington, Delaware, formerly of Corner Ketch, died on April 3, 2003.

Buck was a graduate of Newark High School class of 1943 and of the University of Delaware class of 1950. He spent many years as a child working on farms in the Corner Ketch area and was always very proud of his Corner Ketch heritage.

After a tour of duty in Europe with the U.S. Army during World War II, Richard returned to Corner Ketch where he finished his education.

Being a keen family historian, Buck left his children and eight grandchildren with treasured knowledge of their family lineage.

He was very active with a number of organizations including The Improved Order of Redmen, DuPont Country Club, Sons of the American Revolution, and was a lifelong member of the Society of Friends.

To keep himself busy Buck spent time as an avid gardener, fisherman, beach goer, ballroom dancer, and Phillies and Eagles fan.

Richard first married Ruth Beatrice Miller in September 1945. They were the parents of Richard G Buckingham IV of Corner Ketch, Milene Ann Buckingham of Bear DE and Ruth Hubbard of West Chester PA.

Richard later married Marcy Cloud. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marcy Cloud Buckingham and sister Elva E Buckingham of Newark.
