Notes for Josephine DAGIT

Josephine "Josi" Marie Conway Dagit Barnes, of Chesterbrook, PA., passed away in November 12, 2016 at Daylesford Crossing Assisted Living in Paoli, PA. She was 85.

Daughter of the late Albert F. Dagit and Marion Vanneman Dagit, she was born in Darby, PA on October 18, 1931.

Josi was a graduate of Lower Merion High School and Pierce School of Business. She worked as a legal secretary and arbitration specialist in Philadelphia and New York. While working for the Joe Donovan Construction Co., she was the on-site coordinator of construction for the John F. Kennedy gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery and for the Lyndon B. Johnson presidential inauguration grandsstand. She later worked as a sales represtentative for Nature's Bounty, as a paralegal and as a real estate agent for Roach Brothers Fox Realtors. She was very active and involved with the Valley Forge Chapter of Military Officers Association of America. She was a member of Glenhardie Country Club, belonged to several bridge clubs and was a member of the St. Isaac Jolly Jogues.

The most important thing in Josephine's life was her family and friends and she had a knack for always looking for and finding the best in everyone.

She was the wife of the late late Capt. James Peter Barnes, USN. Devoted mother of Diane Barnes Pancoast (Evans), Paul Richard Barnes (Julie) and Peter Dagit Barnes. Step mother of Elizabeth Gibney (Brian). Loving grandmother of Emily Josephine Pancoast, Margo Welsh Pancoast, Samuel Evans Pancoast, Abigail Dagit Pancoast, Jacob Ryan Barnes and Drew Alexander Barnes. Dear sister of Daniel Conway Dagit, Peggy Dagit Rogers, Suzanne Dagit Sennhenn and the late Albert F. Dagit, Jr., Marion Muldoon, Leonide Gillan and Diane Sommer.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday November 18, 10 AM at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 50 W. Walker Rd., Wayne PA. Relatives and friends may call at the Church after 9 AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, take a friend to lunch and think of Josi.
