Pastor Robert P. Garrett Sr., 75, of Thorndale, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was the husband of Reta Elaine Faddis Garrett, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

Born in Elizabeth, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles and Sadie Garrett.

From 1951 to 1955, he served in the U.S. Navy and eventually settled in Downingtown.

Along with his wife, he attended Philadelphia College of Bible and they entered into evangelistic and music ministry in the 1960s, while he also worked at Faddis Brothers Inc.

He entered into full-time ministry in 1977 when Garrett Family Ministries was formed, recording more than 12 music projects, TV and radio appearances and ministering in churches and conferences throughout the U.S. and in more than 25 foreign countries.

In 1987 he founded Praise Fellowship Church in Downingtown, where he served as senior pastor from 1987 to 1996 and then as pastor emeritus until the time of his death.

For 17 years, he also served as a district coordinator for Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship, Bradenton, Fla., founded by Dr. Gerald Derstine.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Robert and wife Kimberly, David and wife Sandra, Philip and wife Martha, Stephen and wife Milissa and Reta and husband Owen Watkins; and 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 29, at Trinity Assembly of God, 1022 Pottstown Pike, West Chester.

Interment was in Upper Octorara Cemetery, Parkesburg. Arrangements by the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Praise Fellowship Church, 37 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, Pa. 19335.
