Notes for Lawrence Thompson Jr. HOOPES
Lawrence T. Hoopes Jr., 66, of West Chester, beloved husband, father and pop-pop passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at his residence.
He was the husband of Philomena Mascherino Hoopes, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.
Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Lawrence Sr. and Ella Garrett Hoopes.
Mr. Hoopes graduated from Octorara High School in 1959. He was retired from Lukens Steel after 33 years of service. He also worked for NVF Company of Kennet Square and was the owner - proprietor of Turks Head Antiques in West Chester and Bradford Antiques of Ephrata, Pa. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Downingtown. He was a devoted family man and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife Philomena, he is survived by four sons: Lawrence T. III of Parkesburg, Steven G. of East Earl, Jeffrey B. of Ephrata and Matthew J. of Wilmington. Also survived by his sisters, Jeanne Hawk and Joan Atkin; and his nine grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 338 Manor Avenue, Downingtown. Family and friends may call at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown on Monday, August 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
