Notes for George D. SWEIGART
George D. Sweigart, 76, of Coatesville, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the Brandywine Hospital.
He was the husband of Betty L. Cloud Sweigart, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Gap, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Esch Sweigart.
For 45 years he was employed as a bricklayer with Illes Brothers Masonry.
George was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Brandywine Goddard Lodge #383 F. & A.M., Rajah Temple, and Reading Consistory. Additionally, he was a life member of the Westwood Fire Company, where he served as a trustee, and a life member of the Thorndale Fire Company and West End Fire Company.
Surviving him, in addition to his wife, Betty, are two sons, Donald E., husband of Sara Sweigart and William A., husband of Rebecca Sweigart; a sister, Mabel McCoy; two brothers, Christian and Richard Sweigart; four grandchildren, Willie, Tom, Trish and Judy; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 20, at the Harris-Mountain Funeral Home, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Masonic services will be held at 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in St. John's Episcopal Cemetery, Gap.
