George S. Garnett Jr., 92, formerly of Coatesville, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at the Coatesville VA Hospice Center.
He was the husband of Ethel L. Garnett, who preceded him in death in 2008.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late George S. and Clementine Seachrist Garnett Sr.
In his youth, George worked in the CCC Camps.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European-African-Middle Eastern theater, where he received five bronze Service Stars and the Croix de Guerre with Palm.
George was employed as a tank truck driver for various companies.
He was a member of Olivet United Methodist Church.
He was a member of VFW Post 287 and the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
Surviving him is a brother, John H. Garnett Sr., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Harris-Mountain Funeral Home, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville.
Family and friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
In his memory, contributions may be made to Olivet United Methodist Church, 310 E. Chestnut St., Coatesville, PA 19320.
