Louise King Price (nee Heald)

May 24, 1935 - May 6, 2016

Age 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Heartland Hospice House in Pike Creek after a courageous yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.

Following her diagnosis of cancer, she enjoyed special visits with her children and grandchildren; especially a weeklong vacation in Ocean City, NJ where she enjoyed the beach and parasailing. Her family traveled from New Jersey, Oregon and Alaska for Christmas spent at a rustic cabin in Oxford, PA. However, the highlight of her year was seeing her first great-grandchild, Robbie Spiegel, born and visiting with him as often as possible.

Born in West Grove, PA, she was the daughter of Howard M. and Helen (Moore) Heald. Louise graduated from Avon Grove High School and attended Goldey-Beacom College and Richmond Professional Institute. She married Jerry King in 1961, two of their children were born in Jennersville, PA and the third in Bellefonte, PA. After her divorce, she was employed as a medical secretary and later as an office supervisor at the Wilmington Hospital. She opened the secretarial department of X-Ray at Christiana Hospital before returning to the Wilmington Hospital where she retired in 1998. In 1992, she married Jim Price who passed away in 2003.

In addition to her three children, Sherry King of Avondale, PA, Barb Spiegel (Barry Ludy) of Atlantic City, NJ and Chip King (Crystal) of Beaverton, OR; she is survived by a sister, Dorothy Montgomery of Mt. Juliet, TN and brother, Bill Heald (Judy) of Potters Mills, PA; five grandchildren, Harry (Jaclyn) Spiegel, Robbie (Theresa) Spiegel, Jason (Denise) King, Jessica King, Jake Spiegel; and great-grandson, Robbie Spiegel. In addition to her parents and her second husband, she is predeceased by a brother-in-law, Billy W. Montgomery.

Louise served as Treasurer of Avondale Presbyterian Church, London Grove Friends Meeting and the Friends Home of Kennett Square. She participated in the London Grove Plant Sale and served on the Memorial Committee.

A Meeting for Worship in celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 15, 2016 at London Grove Friends Meeting, 500 W. Street Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19711.
