Notes for Helen Marie SADLER
Helen M. Berdich of Exton Helen M. Berdich, 99, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Park Lane at Bellingham, just hours shy of her 100th birthday. She was the loving wife of Joseph C. Berdich, sharing 43 years of marriage together at the time of his passing in 1981. Born in Downingtown, she was the daughter of the late Walter T. and Laura Keller Sadler. In her early years, Helen worked at the Ranieri Company Sewing Factory. After 13 years there she went on to become a homemaker and raise her family. Helen loved sewing. An expert seamstress, she was able to do extensive alterations to men’s and women’s apparel. She did alterations at her home until she was 97. Helen was also industrious, helping her husband build a home in West Chester. An avid gardener, she kept a garden and a small orchard, canning many of her fruits and vegetables. Helen enjoyed the company of her many friends at Eagleview. Helen was very witty, having a memory as sharp as a tack. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Joan Muller Berdich, of Downingtown; sister, Gladys A. Singer, of Exton; granddaughter, Lauren M. (Jeff) Aponik, of Phoenixville; grandson, Brent E. Berdich (Lindsay), of Phoenixville; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Edward C. Berdich; sister, Anne Behrenhauser; and a brother, Walter T. Sadler. A funeral service for Helen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 15, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 East Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, where friends and family may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in Oaklands Cemetery, West Chester.
