Notes for John Conrad WORRELL

1928 – 2016 John Conrad “Jack” Worrell, 87, of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, Pa., died on Monday, March 14, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. on December 1, 1928, he was the son of the late William Worrell and Lillian Deitz Worrell. He resided in Prospect Park, Pa. from 1957 until his move to the Masonic Village in 2007. John loved his country and was proud that while still attending Bok Technical High School, he helped the war effort as an apprentice machinist at the Philadelphia Navy Yard during World War II. He was recognized by the Navy on November 19, 1945, for his service. He also later joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1951. He later worked as a machinist for Baldwin Locomotive Works until diminishing eyesight forced him to develop a new career. John went on to work for the Gulf Oil Corp for more than 34 years, rising through a succession of positions until he retired as the manager of their Bulk Oil operations and Gulf’s tank farm facility in Darby Township, Pa. He was a member of the Gulf Oil Orange Disc Square Club until his retirement and a Free and Accepted Mason in the Prospect Park Lodge # 578 for more than 50 years. John was married to the late Elizabeth Smith Worrell for 59 years and is survived by his son, John Conrad Worrell, Jr.; his daughters Lillian Worrell Hall and Carolyn Worrell McFalls; his six grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life service on Saturday, August 6th, at 1 P.M. at the John S. Sell Chapel located at the Masonic Village on 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, Pa.
