Charles H. Ashton, 85, of Vineland passed away after a brief illness Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at South Jersey Healthcare Hospice Inpatient Center in Bridgeton.
Charles was born in Vineland to the late Earl and May R. (Bye) Ashton and lived in Vineland all his life. Charles was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Prior to retirement, Charles was a truck driver for Interstate Trucking Co. and also was employed by the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. Charles was a member of St. Isidore Roman Catholic Church.
Charles was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Raymond Ashton.Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Della R. (Daiuto) Ashton of Vineland.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave., Vineland, with Father John Bruni officiating.
Burial will follow at Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove. There will be no viewing hours.
Arrangements were entrusted to Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home in Vineland.
Donations in Charles' memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
