Paul E. Williams, 73, of West Chester, a former chemist, died Tuesday in his home of natural causes.

He was the husband of Marjorie Talley Williams.

Mr. Williams was born in Phoenixville in 1913. He was a graduate of West Chester High School and received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Ursinus College, Collegeville, in 1937. He was a resident of West Chester and Chester Springs most of his life.

Mr. Williams was a chemist and worked for the former J. Bishop Co. in Malvern, the Metals and Controls Co. of Attleboro, Mass., and Englehard Industries of Newark, N.J. After his retirement in 1978, he was a consultant for many companies.

He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church of West Chester, the Chester County Historical Society, the International Precious Metals Institute and the Masonic Lodge Rabboni R.A. Chapter of North Attleboro, Mass.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra Van Amburgh; a son, Dr. Kim E. Williams, and six grandchildren.

A funeral service was to be held Friday in the Calvary Lutheran Church in West Chester. Burial was to take place in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Upper Pikeland.
