Notes for David Pyle III MICHENER
David P. Michener, III, a lifelong resident of the Wilmington area, died unexpectedly and peacefully at his home on February 15, 2016.
Dave served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he went to work for the Hercules Company and worked as a technician at the Hercules Research Center, retiring in 1991 after 36 years of dedicated service. Dave was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Millcreek Hundred, where he was an active volunteer in different ministries including Meals-On-Wheels and working in the office. The beloved family patriarch, Dave's happiest times were those spent surrounded by his family.
Dave's wife of 55 years, June Santa Michener, died in 2007 and he is survived by their 2 children - Jeff Michener (Terri) and Carol Richardson (Paul); 5 grandchildren: Josh, Andrew and Marc Michener, and Rebecca and Rachel Richardson; and his great-granddaughter, Harper Michener.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, February 20 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, where friends may call after 10:00am. Interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring the memory of David P. Michener by sending a contribution to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 2800 Duncan Rd., Wilm., DE 19808 or to the Sunday Breakfast Mission, 110 N. Poplar St., Wilm., DE 19801.
