Notes for J. Melvin SEVERNS

Obituary – Public Spirit, April 3, 1947
J. Melvin Severns of Southampton, died at Abington Hospital on Thursday night soon after he was admitted. Ill with a heart attack with which he was stricken in Hatboro when about to return to his home. He was a painter by trade. A resident of Southampton all his live, having been born at Gravel Hill, he was a member of the Davisville Baptist Church, the president of Southampton Fire Company for many years; a charter member of both the P.O.S of A. and the P.O.S of A. lodges. He is survived by his wife, Stella W. Severns, a daughter, Mrs. Eva Gumpper of Horsham, several brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held on Monday at the W. Rowan Grant Funeral Home with interment at Hatboro Cemetery. Cpl. Dudbridge of the Hatboro Police Force conducted the funeral procession from the County line to the cemetery.
