Notes for Robert Lee KARSCHNER
Robert Lee Karschner, 76, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.
Born in Wilmington, Bob was the son of the late Edgar and Hazel (Pyle) Karschner. He was a 1957 graduate of Wilmington High School and went on to earn his degree from Goldey Beacom College, where he studied accounting. In 1960, he started work for the State Division of Revenue in Wilmington and worked there in Auditing for almost 40 years.
Bob was a lifetime social member of Durney Club, VFW Post 27. He did their accounting for over 30 years. He enjoyed horse racing at Delaware Park and other tracks, especially with his father. Bob also enjoyed classical music, eating crabs, going to Atlantic City with family, bowling, attending Blue Rocks games, and watching the Phillies.
Bob was a long-time active member at Calvary Episcopal Church, singing in the choir, acolyting, and being on the vestry. He later became an active member at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Wilmington, where he enjoyed ushering.
Bob and his wife, Marion, were married in 1973 and were blessed with two wonderful sons, James and Edward, James’ wife Jennifer and their children Daniel, Julia, Abigail, and Morgan. He adored his grandchildren and will be fondly remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 10:00 AM on January 19, 2016 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 2800 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Hwy., in New Castle.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Bob's memory to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church or the American Diabetes Association,100 W. 10th St., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801
