Notes for Annetta MCFARLAND

Annetta M. Jefferis of West Chester Annetta M. Jefferis, 98 of West Chester, Pa. died Monday, March 14, 2016 at Barclay Friends in West Chester, where she was a resident for over 16 years. She was the wife of the late P. Edward Jefferis, who passed in 1991 and with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage. Born January 31, 1918 in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Carl B. McFarland and the late Alice Yearsley McFarland. Annetta was a 1936 graduate of West Chester High School and Vice President of her Senior Class. She went on to graduate from Wilfred Academy of Beauty Culture in Philadelphia. Annetta was a Beautician at Lilyan Lee Shop and Mae Zells in West Chester. She also worked at Louise Fox Shop, volunteered at the Bring and Buy Shop and retired as Secretary from the board of West Chester Laundry. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of West Chester for over 84 years and a founding member of the Forty Niners Chorus. Annetta was an accomplished pianist taking lessons from professional Helga Gerlama of Exton. She enjoyed walking, swimming, sewing, knitting, baking those special cookies and spending summers at her vacation home in Fenwick Island, Del. Annetta loved to travel with her church, especially to the Holy Land. Annetta is survived by her son, James D. Jefferis of West Chester; seven grandchildren, Krysten Jefferis of Arizona City, Ariz., Jennifer Bethke of Northampton, Bradley Jefferis of West Chester, P. Edward Jefferis of Hershey, Michael Jefferis of Point Pleasant, N.J., Timothy Jefferis of Downingtown and Jamie Jefferis of West Chester; 11 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Patricia S. Jefferis of West Chester; one niece and two nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Charles R. “Jeff” Jefferis, granddaughter Amando Jo Jefferis, and siblings, Virginia Woodward and Carl McFarland, Jr. Relatives and Friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of West Chester, 130 W. Miner St. West Chester, PA 19382; followed by her Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Interment will be held in Oaklands Cemetery, West Chester.
