Frederick Krauss Hoopes, 87, of Elkton, Md., died March 10.

Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late George D. and Mary Krauss Hoopes.

Mr. Hoopes was employed by the Chrysler Corp. in Newark, Del., retiring in 1980.

He loved spending time with his family. Mr. Hoopes enjoyed gardening, traveling in New England and taking day trips, especially walking along the Brandywine River and visiting the Brandywine River Museum.

Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Mary N. Hoopes daughters, Elizabeth H. Hansen of Mystic, Conn., and Christine Haicken of Mohegan Lake, N.Y. son, Erick Hoopes of Baltimore, Md. sister, Mabel Hoopes, West Chester three grandchildren.
