Notes for Tae Pun KANG
Tae Pun Twaddell, 67, of North Wilmington, died suddenly and tragically at her home on October 14, 2015. She was born on August 10, 1948 in Taegu, South Korea. She was born into poverty and started working at the age of eight to help support her family; Tae was a survivor. On June 11, 1965 she married Clifford Twaddell in Seoul, Korea. Cliff brought her to the United States, saving her from an uncertain future. With her husband working months at a time overseas supporting the family, Tae raised their three children without ever knowing how to read or write; Tae was a survivor.
She loved to cook (Korean dishes were her specialty) and nothing could compare with her pot roast or pan-fried steak, nothing! She enjoyed watching Korean soap operas, gardening, crabbing, Phil Collins, and One Direction, and believe it or not, she loved watching football (go 49ers & Steelers)! As a homemaker, Tae worked endlessly to give her children the childhood she never had: decent clothes, food, a safe place to sleep, an education; Tae was a survivor. Tae wanted to be the mom she never had; teaching her children to work hard and always do the right thing, to be honest and live with honor, and to love without judgement; Tae was a survivor. But most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.
You see, Tae was a survivor, but she was our mommy too, our Hiya. Tae was predeceased by her parents, Pong Nam Kang and Yong Chul Cho. Tae is survived by her husband, Clifford Twaddell; her three children, Marianne Twaddell of Cherry Hill, NJ, Joan Weber of Avondale, PA and George Twaddell of Wilmington; and her beloved grandchildren: Amanda Tae Bailey, Christopher Hritz, Lauren Bailey, Angelina Tae Twaddell, Brianna Weber, and Ty Weber. A private memorial service will be held for immediate family members. To send condolences visit: www.mccreryandharra.com
