Notes for Clarence A. BROWN
Clarence A. “Bud” Brown of Earleville, MD, formerly of West Chester, PA, died August 12, 2009, in Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, MD.
Mr. Brown was born on November 10, 1918, in Sugartown, PA, son of the late Clarence I. and Rhoda Dunlap Brown.
He was a World War II veteran with the Army Air Corps, and had a long career as a mechanical engineer.
In West Chester while raising his sons, he was a Boy Scout Leader and Indian Guide. He was active with the 49’ers-singing group, and enjoyed traveling and camping with his family.
In 1982 he moved to Earleville where he was active with the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and Cemetery as their treasurer, choir member, and in 2008 was recognized as Member of the Year.
He also was a member and treasurer of the Westview Shores Civic Association and Lower Cecil County Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Charlotte Hoopes Brown, in 2004; and a sister, R. Eleanor Steele.
Mr. Brown is survived by two sons, C. David Brown and wife, Marilyn, of Havre de Grace, MD, and Kenneth A. Brown and wife, Helen ‘Sissy,” of West Chester, PA.; a special friend who was like a daughter, Beverly Ritacco of Stafford, VA; four grandsons, Collin, Kevin, Darren and Steven Brown:and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Brown.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at 11 a.m. in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Earleville, MD.
