Notes for I. Willard GRAY

I. Willard Gray of Downingtown I. Willard Gray, 87, of Downingtown, a lifelong resident of West Bradford Township, passed away Nov. 6, 2013. Born Oct. 31, 1926, he was the son of Irwin William Gray and Edith Embree Gray. Willard was a proud alumnus of Westtown Friends School and served in the U.S. Navy toward the end of World War II. Willard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis Woodward Gray; a daughter Deborah Gray Stamm and her husband Gregory of New London; two grandchildren, Andrew Carl Stamm and Sarah Elizabeth Stamm, both of New London; in addition, he is survived by his brother, Gilbert Embree Gray of Marshallton and four nephews. For most of his life, Willard was a self-employed dairy farmer with a passion for Guernsey dairy cattle and Belgian draft horses. He was never more proud than when one of his teams of Belgians was pulling a float in a parade or a wagon on a hay ride. Willard was also employed by Pepperidge Farm in Downingtown, retiring in 1989. Services and interment will be private at the Oakland Friends Cemetery, West Chester.
