Jane C. Wylie, 82, of West Chester, died Monday, May 25, 2009, at the Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit.
She was the wife of the late John M. Wylie.
Born in Chadds Ford, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Bessie Cheyney Cook.
Jane worked as a cook at the Lenape Inn, Unionville Inn and the Barnwood Tavern.
She loved to bake and share her goodies with family and friends.
She was known as the "Flower Lady," because she loved to work in her flowerbeds and vegetable garden.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Jane W. Farrow and her husband, John, of Sandy, Utah, and Shirley A. Arabia and her partner, Alan Levine, of West Chester; sisters, Marie Ruoss and her husband, George, of West Chester, Virginia Robinson of West Chester, Mabel Romanowski of West Grove, and Mary Alice Moore and her husband, William, of South Carolina. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Judy Lovell, with whom she lived; nieces, nephews and friends, Ellen Gray, Chuck Gray; and her hospice aide, Becky.
She was predeceased by a brother, Jesse Cook; and sister, Grace Slider.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, at the Brandywine Baptist Church, 1463 Baltimore Pike (Route 1), Chadds Ford.
Her visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Interment will be in Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery.
