Notes for Alma June SPICER

RETIRED MCCC EMPLOYEE, 63 Alma J. Spicer Thompson, 63, a retired college guidance office employee, died Sunday at her home in Upper Gwynedd Township.

She retired five years ago from the guidance office at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell.

As a young woman, she worked for several years at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, then later worked in the research department at Merck Sharp & Dohme in West Point.

Mrs. Thompson, a native of Philadelphia, graduated from Olney High School in 1953 and earned a degree in medical technology from Hahnemann Medical College in 1957.

An Upper Gwynedd resident since 1960, she was a longtime member of Sanctuary United Methodist Church and also belonged to the Merrybrook Garden Club, both in North Wales.

She enjoyed playing bridge and swimming.

Also a homemaker, she is survived by her husband of 39 years, John V. Thompson; sons John Jr. and Matthew S.; a brother; a sister; and a grandson.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today at Sanctuary United Methodist Church. Burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Butler Pike and Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting.
