Notes for Edward Broadbent LAWTON
Edward B. Lawton, 75, of Upper Providence, a former systems analyst for General Electric Co., died Nov. 12 at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Middletown.
Born in Media, Mr. Lawton was a longtime resident of Upper Providence and was a 1938 graduate of former Media High School. He was employed as a systems analyst with General Electric Co., Philadelphia, for 25 years before retiring in 1982.
Active with the Upper Providence Senior Citizens Club, Mr. Lawton served as the club's trip planner for seven years. He also was a member of the Artisans Lodge.
He was a longtime member of the Media United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher, teller and member of the administrative board. He also belonged to the United Methodist Men.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Lawton served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Alma Mancill Lawton; two sons, Barry Lawton of Elverson, Pa., and David Lawton of Secane; two daughters, Nancy McKenna of Swarthmore and Jeane Soldo of Aston; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, State and Lemon streets, Media, with a calling hour 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Media Cemetery.
