Notes for Helen Elizabeth HANNUM

Helen E. (Hannum) Moore, 86, of Hockessin, DE peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

Toppy was born in Wilmington on July 23, 1928, daughter of the late Chandler and Helen (Jump) Hannum, and was a graduate of Beacom College. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a much loved and respected second mother to many. Toppy was a devoted and always welcoming homemaker. She was a long time, faithful member of Hockessin United Methodist Church. Toppy enjoyed gardening and had an affinity for gardenias. She also enjoyed traveling, and in her early years, bowling. She was an avid University of Delaware football and basketball fan.

Toppy will be dearly missed by her husband of 66 years, G. Frank Moore; her sons, Steven D. Moore and his wife, Jill, and Michael F. Moore and his wife, Terri; her grandchildren, Triny Rivera (Karli), Amanda Rivera, Sunny Mendez (Larry), Becca Moore, Zach Moore, Jordan Pietruczenia (Mike), Matthew Pottock and Alexis Pottock; and 8 great grandchildren.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to her devoted friend, Marilyn Nichols.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, June 4 from 5:00-7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at Hockessin United Methodist Church, 7250 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin on Friday, June 5 at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Toppy may be made to the American Cancer Society , 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.
