Notes for Albert P. GREENLEAF
Albert P. Greenleaf, 88, of West Chester, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit in West Chester.
His greatest love was for his wife of 65 years, Elsie Haldeman Greenleaf.
Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Samuel and Beatrice Davidson Greenleaf.
He was a graduate of West Chester High School, where he played baseball during his high school years and continued to play after high school with the Green Hill Sunday School team.
After graduation, he was employed at American Non Grand Bronze in Berwyn, where he made airplane parts for four years.
He served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Forces and was a member of the American Legion Post #134, West Chester.
After his military service, he was employed with R.S. Green & Sons Appliances for 21 years. In 1968, he began to work for West Chester University in refrigeration and air conditioning, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Grove United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where he was involved with the Elderberries.
He was a model airplane builder, and a member of the Chester County Aerial Club, the Indian King Hunting Club, and the Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association.
He was also a member of the West Whiteland Fire Company, the oldest member of the West Whiteland Fire Police, serving more than 55 years, and a life member of the Chester County Fire Police.
In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was a good uncle to everybody.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, at Grove United Methodist Church, Boot and Grove roads, West Whiteland, where family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Grove Methodist Cemetery.
