Notes for Charles Emory CROSSON
Charles E. Crosson, 86, of 1932 Spring Road, Carlisle, and formerly of Rear 215 W. Third St., Lewistown, died at 10:45 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at his daughter's home in Carlisle.
Born June 18, 1918, in Granville, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Virgie B. (Walters) Crosson. His wife, Audrey Maxine (Sheaffer) Crosson, preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Marion "Becky" Detwiler, and her companion, Ronald Davis, 1932 Spring Road, Carlisle; two grandchildren, Debra L. Tolan and Charles A. Winn; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Skylor Stitt, Ashley McGinty and Ian A. Winn; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He served in the CCC in 1938; the Pennsylvania National Guard's 104th Calvary from 1938-1940; and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was employed with the American Viscose Corp. until 1972, and then with PennDOT until his retirement in 1983. He was of the Protestant faith; a life member of City Hook and Ladder, Brooklyn Hose, and the Yeagertown Fire companies; and a member of the Owls Nest Home Association. He was also a member of the Fame Fire Co.; Moose Lodge; VFW Post 7011; Carlisle Eagles Nest 1299; and a member of American Legion Post 90.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park with military graveside services by VFW Post 7011. His family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home.
