Notes for William Hudson BRINSFIELD
Tool and die maker; World War II Army veteran
William H. Brinsfield, 78, a longtime resident of the Ogden section of Boothwyn, died Dec. 5 at home.
Mr. Brinsfield was born in Darby to the late John and Mary Bross Brinsfield. He was raised in Ridley Park and spent some time in Holmes before moving to Ogden.
After graduating from Ridley Township High School in 1945, Mr. Brinsfield received a degree in tool and die making from Chester High School.
Mr. Brinsfield put his degree to use as a tool and die maker for Bowersox Precision Casting, Inc. in Trainer for 41 years before retiring in 1993. After retiring, he worked part time for the Robert Moreland Funeral Home in Trainer.
He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Brinsfield was a longtime member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Aston, where he was a council member and youth group leader.
He was also a past member of the Ogden Fire Co. and the Delaware County Fireman's Association. He was an avid Boy Scout as a youth, and later founded the Ogden Cub Scouts. He was a Troop Committee Member and Merit Badge Counselor at St. Timothy.
Mr. Brinsfield loved traveling and vacationing with his wife, Betty, in their motor home to all parts of the country. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, his fondest joys were his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Richard Brinsfield.
Survivors: Wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Lotter Brinsfield, of home; sons, Richard Brinsfield of Rising Sun, Md., William Brinsfield of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; daughters, Laura Hutchison of Wilmington, Del., Gail Oines of Washington Crossing, Judith Brinsfield of Williamsburg, Va.; brothers, Floyd Brinsfield of Folsom, Robert Brinsfield of Norwood; sisters, Anna Mason of Wallingford, Elizabeth Fawcett of Elkton, Md., Margaret Devine of Woodlyn, Alice Lotter of North Scituate, R.I., Patricia Foltz of Holmes; six grandchildren.
