Notes for Martha LORD
Martha (Lord) Strattan Lukens was first married in April 1857 to Charles Stratton as reported in the newspaper article of the Public Ledger on 30 April 1857. It mentions Mr. Simeon Lord of Avondale as her father. Martha and Charles had a daughter Eoline Verlinden Strattan on March 31, 1858. Eoline married many years later in 1893 to Jesse P. Lukens as reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer on September 7, 1893.
Martha and Charles also had a daughter Elizabeth (Lizzie) Strattan who died at age four as reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer of 30 January 1864. Lizzie died on the 28th and was buried on the 30th of January with services from her grandparent Simeon Lord's home.
Charles Stratton, Martha's first husband, died on 27 September 1867 three years after the death of their daughter Lizzie.
Widow Martha (Lord) Stratton, then married Henry H. Lukens in 1869. This information is taken from the 1900 U.S. Census. It says they were married in 1869 and have been married thirty-one years.
Children who have been documented are Horace Lukens who was born in 1870. He is listed on their 1870 U.S. Census page. Also Bertha Lukens born September 1873 listed on their 1880 and 1900 U.S. Census.
Martha died on 12 August 1904 and was buried the 15th of August 1904 in Mount Moriah Cemetery Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
